During the summer I worked at the Mount St. Helens Institute as a guide and WFA volunteer. I was able to explore the land and trails on and around Mount St. Helens as I grew in my knowledge of our sister volcano and her history. I also enjoyed a wonderful Geology of Oregon course at PSU that took me all around the Northwest exploring the natural wonders of how our state was formed. From the volcanoes to the lahars of Fossil, I was able to adventure through many beautiful areas and experience many different people from around the world. I love how our region fosters so many people with a similar view of nature and adventure. During the course of the year I hope to extend some of these experiences to level 4 students. If you have any questions or would like to see pictures, please email me.
Experience & FGCS
This is my third year of teaching math and science at the Forest Grove Community School with the level 4 students. I have been teaching math and science for 10 years now; four of those years were in the Republic of Panama. Within this level of math and science, students are given the opportunity for field studies, labs, and activities that apply the concepts and/or procedures that the class covers within each semester.
Beyond teaching, I enjoy playing with my two boys. Much of this play is with cars, dirt, and bikes. I also enjoy cycling, rock climbing, hiking, backpacking and mountaineering. I spent my summer taking geology classes and guiding people up Mt. St. Helens.
This year is filled with many exciting and challenging events. I look forward to the interactions with both you and your student during this year.
